INVITATION TO TENDER FOR A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF COMMUNITY-BASED
MENTAL HEALTH PROMOTION INTERVENTIONS WHICH PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION,
ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY CONNECTEDNESS AMONG THOSE MOST AT RISK OF
DEVELOPING MENTAL HEALTH DIFFICULTIES.

BACKGROUND

‘Sharing the Vision (StV) – A mental health policy for everyone
* – *’, is
Ireland’s whole system policy to enhance the provision of mental
health support across a broad continuum - from the promotion of
positive mental health to specialist mental health service delivery.

Launched in March *, the ‘Sharing the Vision
(StV) Implementation Plan * – **Apply on the
website**’ outlines a programme of work for the next three years to
deliver StV recommendations. The mental health promotion and digital
mental health workstream has been tasked with overseeing the delivery
of a cluster of recommendations. This includes recommendation 5:
“New and existing community development programmes which promote
social inclusion, engagement and community connectedness should be
appropriately resourced and developed, in line with the proposed
national mental health promotion plan”. In order to inform the
delivery of this recommendation, the workstream wish to commission
research with regard to community-based mental health promotion
interventions that are designed to meet the needs of those most at
risk of developing mental health difficulties.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

* To summarise the evidence from a comprehensive review of national
and international peer-reviewed research and relevant grey literature
examining community based mental health promotion interventions
* To identify and present best-practice case examples of community
based initiatives in Ireland
* To provide recommendations on community based that could be
appropriately resourced and scaled in the Irish context.
* To produce a report of evidence, current practice and
recommendations.
